Disney Dining Review: Breakfast at Boma in Animal Kingdom Lodge
If you’re looking for a delicious breakfast Walt Disney World Florida, outside of hustle and bustle of the parks, and with a great atmosphere you should definitely check out Boma.
Getting There
This restaurant is at Animal Kingdom Lodge. This is the Lodge (i.e. hotel), not to be confused with Animal Kingdom the Park. It’s just down the road from the park. If you’re using Disney transportation it can harder to get there since you’d have to take a bus from one of the parks, Disney Springs, or the Ticket Center. If you have a car, plan to visit Boma on your Animal Kingdom park day. It’s less than 5 minutes drive from the Lodge to the park so you can eat an early breakfast and be in the park fairly quickly.
It’s also worth taking some time to look around the lobby of the Lodge. The decor is so beautiful.
The Food
Boma is a buffet restaurant that serves Breakfast and Dinner. It’s known for its African inspired food. This is most obvious during dinner as the food is varied and unique. (Dinner is very good, but that can be a downside. In other words, if you aren’t an adventurous eater you not find many options you like.)
Breakfast is more traditional, all though the chefs at Boma definitely put their own spin on certain dishes making them even better. The food variety is excellent. There are carving meats and hot savory dishes. Breakfast choices like eggs bacon and sausage. Lots of delicious sweet breakfast foods- if you like pastries, waffles and muffins you’ll love Boma.
One that really stood out to me was the Pecan Praline French Toast Bread pudding with accompanying sauce. Seriously so so good.
There was also quite a lot of healthier choices. A full salad and fruit bar that was fresh and had a variety of options.
A stand out beverage at Boma is the Jungle Juice. It’s a blend of Papaya, Orange and Guava juices. They have a mimosa option where they add champagne to the Juice. It’s wonderful and a unique spin on a typical breakfast drink.
My Boma Review
Boma is a great value for the price. When we went it was $25 for adults all-you-can eat buffet with (non-alcoholic) beverages included. (Prices do vary seasonally so check for when you’re going.) By Disney price standards, you get a lot of good quality food for the price.
Many times buffet food can be more about quantity over quality. When food looks like it’s been sitting under a warming light for a long time it starts to lose its appeal. But the food at the Boma buffet looked and tasted very fresh. They were constantly changing the pans and nothing looked like it had been there a while.
The atmosphere is also relaxing. The vibe of the Animal Kingdom Lodge is really enjoyable and it’s a fun place to look around, take in the decor, and step outside to see some of the animals that are outside on the grounds. When you come to Disney World you learn very quickly that moments of relaxation are few and far between. So having a more calm and relaxing breakfast can be a really great way to start your day.
The food quality, price value, and atmosphere puts Boma is in my top five breakfast places in Walt Disney World. While I do like it for dinner, there are so many amazing places to eat dinner in the same price point that it would not be in my top 10.
