STK Opens at Disney Springs
Last night STK had a grand opening party at their new location at Disney Springs. I had intended this to be a review but that will have to come later. The party was very swanky, with a Miami club vibe. They tried hard to give this a very high-end, adult feel. Red carpet entry, girls greeting you with champagne in showgirl style attire. Trays circulating with teeny tiny fancy foods that were difficult to identify. And lots and lots of people.
The Good:
The decor is gorgeous. The flowers, crystal, table settings, everything was top notch and wonderfully done. The upstairs rooftop lounge area is my favorite. A very urban feel, with a giant STK neon sign and great views of the surrounding Town Center area. Right now you see a lot of construction still, but once it’s all done it will be a fantastic place to have a drink and enjoy the view.
The Meh:
I hesitate to say bad. It’s not that I disliked anything, it’s just that I didn’t get to experience the place as someone typically would. It was a party, packed with people, impossible to move around. The food was gone before it even properly made it out, and even if I had been willing to elbow and squeeze my way through people to grab something, it wouldn’t have been anything that I would order. What people most want to know is, what’s the vibe like? How’s the dining atmosphere? How’s the waitstaff? And most importantly: How is the steak? None of that I can answer. So it’s really not a review. More like, first impressions. And a few pictures I was able to snap in the low lighted crowded room.
In Summary
I don’t know enough to say if it’s good or not. The overall feel of the party didn’t really fit into the new Disney Springs theming which seems to offer things that are family friendly, unique, and playful. I would definitely be up for trying it for dinner and seeing what a typical dining experience is like. Hopefully I can in the future and I will be able to update this with more information.
