EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays

The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is a celebration of holiday traditions from around the world. Running from November 29 through December 30, 2024, this festival offers a global perspective on the holiday season.

Epcot’s International Festival of the Holidays at Walt Disney World is a vibrant and immersive celebration that captures the spirit of the season by showcasing the diverse holiday traditions of cultures around the world. Held annually from late November through December, this festival transforms Epcot into a festive wonderland, where guests can experience the magic of the holidays through food, music, storytelling, and decor.

Specific details have not yet been announced, but so much more to come. Here are the highlights!

Holiday Kitchens

One of the festival’s highlights is the array of Holiday Kitchens scattered throughout Epcot’s World Showcase. These special food booths offer guests a taste of traditional holiday dishes from various countries. From German Lebkuchen (gingerbread cookies) and Norwegian rice pudding to Mexican tamales and Japanese soba noodles, the culinary offerings are as diverse as they are delicious. Each Holiday Kitchen provides a unique opportunity to sample seasonal flavors that reflect the cultural heritage and festive customs of different nations.

For those who appreciate a holiday treat, the Holiday Cookie Stroll is a must-do. Guests can collect stamps in a special passport by purchasing five different cookies from select locations around the World Showcase. Once all stamps are collected, a complimentary specialty cookie is the sweet reward, adding a fun and interactive element to the festival.

Candlelight Processional

A cornerstone of the Festival of the Holidays is the Candlelight Processional, a beloved Epcot tradition. This moving performance tells the story of Christmas through a retelling of the Nativity, accompanied by a full orchestra and a choir composed of both cast members and community choirs. The processional is narrated by a rotating cast of celebrity narrators, which in the past has included stars such as Neil Patrick Harris, Whoopi Goldberg, and Pat Sajak. The combination of powerful narration, majestic music, and the warm glow of hundreds of candles creates an unforgettable and deeply moving holiday experience.

Disney also offers special Dining Packages for this event as well. If you reserve lunch or dinner at select dining locations, you will receive a priority seating ticket for the Candlelight Processional. I highly recommend this. The Processional is extremely popular, especially on nights when a well-known actor or actress is narrating. Having priority seating is worth it!

Holiday Storytellers

Around the World Showcase, guests can enjoy live entertainment that brings the holiday traditions of each country to life. Special holiday storytellers share the legends and lore of their respective cultures. In Norway, for example, guests might meet Sigrid and the mischievous barn Santa, Julenissen, while in Italy, La Befana, the kind-hearted witch, tells her tale of delivering gifts to children on the eve of Epiphany. In Japan, a Daruma doll artisan shares the story of the Japanese New Year.

In addition to the storytellers, live performances, including festive musical acts, dance troupes, and holiday shows, add to the joyful atmosphere. The Canadian Holiday Voyageurs, a band that plays traditional Canadian holiday music, and the joyful tunes of Las Posadas in the Mexico pavilion are just a few of the cultural performances that celebrate the season.

Holiday Merchandise

Guests looking to bring a piece of the festival home can explore exclusive merchandise, including festive apparel, ornaments, and collectible pins. The merchandise often features beloved Disney characters dressed in holiday attire, adding a touch of Disney magic to the festivities.

Epcot’s Festival of the Holidays is a celebration that invites guests to explore and embrace the rich tapestry of holiday traditions from around the world. Whether through the taste of traditional holiday dishes, the stirring sounds of the Candlelight Processional, or the joyful stories told by holiday storytellers, the festival offers a unique and heartwarming way to experience the magic of the season at Walt Disney World.

We haven’t received all the detailed information yet for the Festival of the Holidays. This post will be updated when we have more news.

Caroling and Live Holiday Entertainment

Some resorts feature live performances like holiday caroling, live bands, or seasonal piano performances in the lobby, adding extra cheer and festive sounds to the atmosphere.

Exclusive Holiday Merchandise

Just like the parks, the resort gift shops carry special holiday-themed merchandise such as Christmas ornaments, holiday clothing, Mickey ear headbands, and festive souvenirs unique to the resort, allowing guests to bring home a bit of Disney holiday magic.

Holidays at Disney Springs

Celebrating the holidays at Disney Springs offers a blend of festive entertainment, unique shopping, and seasonal treats. This lively shopping and dining district transforms into a winter wonderland, with twinkling lights, holiday decorations, and themed activities for all ages.

From the iconic Christmas Tree Stroll to special appearances by Santa Claus, Disney Springs provides endless opportunities for festive fun. With live entertainment, exclusive holiday merchandise, snowfall in the Marketplace, and delectable seasonal food and drinks, it’s the perfect place to soak in the holiday spirit at Walt Disney World.

Here is a list of everything you’ll find during the holiday season at Disney Springs.

Christmas Tree Stroll

Stroll through Disney Springs and discover beautifully decorated Christmas trees, each themed after a different Disney character, movie, or attraction. Pick up a map and collect stickers as you find each tree, with a small holiday reward for completing the stroll.

This is so much fun and not to be missed if you are visiting during the holiday season. I have done the Christmas Tree Stroll countless times and it’s fabulous. The trees get better and better year after year!

Meet Santa Claus

Guests can meet Santa Claus at Disney Springs and share their holiday wishes. This is a perfect opportunity for a festive photo, with a virtual queue system ensuring an organized experience.

Holiday-Themed Shopping

Shop for exclusive holiday merchandise at Disney Springs stores, including festive ornaments, holiday attire, Disney-themed Christmas décor, and more. Popular spots include World of Disney, the Disney Days of Christmas store (a fan favorite!!), and specialty boutiques.

Seasonal Sweets and Treats

Enjoy delicious holiday treats at Disney Springs, such as peppermint churros, gingerbread cookies, festive cupcakes, and holiday-themed drinks from Ghirardelli, Amorette’s Patisserie, and The Ganachery. Many restaurants also offer special seasonal menus.

Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar transforms into a festive holiday bar with themed decor, seasonal cocktails, and special holiday snacks. The immersive holiday experience makes it a popular spot for a festive drink. This is one of my favorite spots for a festive drink. They have awesome drinks and delicious food – a definitely must-try.

Holiday Entertainment

Live holiday entertainment fills the air at Disney Springs with carolers, street performers, live musicians, and dance performances. These shows add a lively holiday atmosphere to your visit.

Snowfall in the Marketplace

Experience a touch of winter magic as snow falls in select areas of Disney Springs. The Marketplace often features these surprise snow flurries during the evenings, adding a delightful wintery touch to your holiday visit.
