July 4th in most places in the US is all about fireworks. Disney World is generally known for impressive fireworks displays, so as you can imagine, they pull out all the stops on the 4th of July. In fact, this holiday and New Years Eve are the biggest fireworks shows all year at Walt Disney Resort.
While they are truly amazing, and something worth seeing, keep in mind with anything this spectacular you can expect lots of crowds. Crowds and heat can combine to create some truly uncomfortable situations.
So please be prepared. Expect crowds to be high. Give yourself extra time when taking Disney transportation. Pace yourself and take lots of breaks. And please, for the love of Walt, try to be inside during the hottest part of the afternoon. If you don’t you will regret it. Trying to push thru all day and then make it to the evening fireworks will not end well for you or anyone with you.
For more tips on beating the heat check out my article Disney World Summer Survival Guide.
Now, Magic Kingdom and Epcot both do the big epic fireworks you’re probably picturing. If you want to see both shows you’re in luck. Because Magic Kingdom does their big show twice, once on the 3rd, and then again on the 4th. So if you go to Magic Kingdom on the 3rd and Epcot on the 4th you’ll get two bangs for your bucks.
(Fireworks. Bangs. These are the jokes people.)
